Internet Source: Middle Ages Hardly Awesome

Today is a day for linking, apparently.  Via Boingboing, I came across the “Periodic Table of Awesoments“, a listing of the fundamental components of awesomeness.  The table confirms what several commenters here have said: Trebuchets are awesome.  Fundamentally awesome, it would appear.

Sadly, little else medieval made the awesoment cut, unless ninjas count. Perhaps medievalia tends to arise primarily in compounds. Or is that awesomounds?

I’d say battle axes are fairly medieval.

    Daggers and catapults as well?

C’mon, people. Yes, catapults and daggers existed in the Middle Ages, but so did fire, tornados, cheese, and cheetahs.

I personally think that swords could count, but considering how timeless swords are, they’d be as much of a stretch as battleaxe, throwing stars, and cobras.

You are buying into a chart that lists Doritos?

Well, I’d count fortresses as mediaeval. Mostly.

And ninjas are definitely mediaeval. In fact, I have definite proof that Havelok the Dane had a mysterious encounter with pirate ninjas on his way back to Denmark. The proof? All evidence of the encounter was stealthily removed from the manuscript.

    Almost all.
